Annotation

Students who have the aim of attaining the "Teaching Qualification for Grammar Schools" course complete their studies in a tiered course structure. Firstly, the dual Bachelor's degree course at the University of Osnabrück must be completed or proof provided of an equivalent degree obtained at another university in the appropriate subject, or in a closely related subject with a corresponding teacher-training specialisation. The Master's degree course "Teaching Qualification for Grammar Schools", which is oriented towards the professional field of schools, builds onto this; a new application is required in any case. A Master's degree is the prerequisite for admission to postgraduate civil service. In the Teaching Qualification degree course, Latin is studied in combination with the core subject selected in the Bachelor's degree course with the same CP total (variant: core subject/core subject). In addition to Latin, the following can be chosen as a second teaching subject: Biology, Chemistry, German, English, Geography, Protestant Religion, French, History, Computer Science, Catholic Religion, Art, Mathematics, Music, Physics, Spanish or Sport. As part of the Master's supplementary course "Complementary Subject for the Teaching Qualification for Grammar Schools" a third teaching subject can be studied; all of the above teaching subjects and Italian may be studied, in addition to Latin and the second teaching subject chosen. In addition to the two teaching subjects, the teacher training core curriculum (Kerncurriculum Lehrerbildung, KCL) is mandatory. As part of this, skills in educational science as well as subject-related didactics are taught. In addition, a basic subject placement in one of the teaching subjects and a supplementary subject placement in the other teaching subject must be completed. The Master's thesis can be written in one of the two teaching subjects, in one of the subject-related didactics or, under certain circumstances, as part of the KCL. If the subject chosen alongside Latin is a modern foreign language, during registration for the Master's final examination, evidence of a three-month stay abroad relevant to the course in a country in which this language is the official language must be provided.
