Target group
The degree course is aimed at students who have already acquired knowledge in a law degree course abroad. They want to learn more about the German legal system. They not only gain insight into the material, they can also select their specialisation independently. The degree course aims to convey knowledge about the German law. This knowledge is a basic introduction to German law materials for graduates.
Annotation
General information: The Master's degree course 'Postgraduate Course in the Basics of German Law' is aimed at students who have already acquired knowledge in a Law degree course abroad. The aim is to introduce them to the German legal system. In doing so, they not only gain an insight into the subject matter, but can also independently choose their focus. The aim of the degree course is to provide knowledge of German law. This knowledge provides graduates with an initial introduction to German law. The Master's degree programme consists of subjects from the three basic areas of Private Law, Criminal Law and Public Law. In these three basic areas - within the scope of the local possibilities - a focus can be set according to one's own interests. In addition, the Master's degree students must write a Master's thesis with a volume of approx. 50 to 70 pages. After successful completion of the Master's thesis and the oral Master's examination, the Master's students will be awarded the title Master of Laws – Postgraduate Course in the Basics of German Law by the department’s Master's officer. Research focuses: The specialisation area enables the students to set their focus. The specialisations are divided into the fields of Public Law, Public Law and Private Law, Private Law and Criminal Law. They give students a deeper insight into German law.
