Annotation

During their studies, students acquire in-depth knowledge of theories and methods of social science conflict research. They are familiar with the functioning of international organisations and mechanisms that serve to preserve or restore peaceful forms of politics. They are also familiar with the problems and opportunities for improving international politics, in particular human rights politics, and are able to explain social conflicts at different levels both theoretically and to analyse their causes and possible solutions using different methodological approaches.

Admission requirements

Completion of a first degree in Social Sciences and Cultural Studies worth at least 180 ECTS with a grade of “very good” or “good”. Out of the 180 ECTS, at least 30 ECTS must be completed within Social Sciences. Evidence of English language proficiency to C1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages through a certificate or equivalent. Applicants whose native language is not German must demonstrate German skills to DSH 2 examination level. Evidence of experience abroad relevant to the course or profession for at least three months. Finally, the requirements for admission include a 3-page informative letter of motivation written in German or English. As a minimum, this should contain the following: Reasons for choosing the subject and place of study; Section setting out the relevant areas of specialisation; Desired career.
