Target group

The Master's in Literary and Cultural Theory is a research-oriented, theoretical-interdisciplinary, cross-sectional study programme, which draws from the broad interdisciplinary teaching of the modern philologies and neighbouring subjects. Students are given the opportunity to intensively study overarching ideas in literary and cultural studies in four semesters and to grasp the whole spectrum of the current theoretical discussion. The Master's programme is structured by modules. In one of the following four specialised modules, students choose their focus according to their personal requirements and their academic plans: 1. Text theory, aesthetics, literary theory\; 2. History of ideas and knowledge\; 3. Media aesthetics and media history\; 4. Cultural theory and interculturality. The research-oriented approach makes this study course ideal for preparing for a doctorate or qualifying for non-university occupational fields in the private sector, media and culture.
