Annotation

Education in working life and in schools, innovative technology and lifelong competence development. If you understand these things as a unit, you have good qualifications for the Master's degree programme in Vocational Education. For teachers at vocational schools for metalworking and electrical engineering, these are elementary concerns. No matter where graduates later teach – it is about industrial and technical vocational training that takes into account company innovations, trainees with heterogeneous learning requirements and a modern and research-based didactics of technology. In the Master's degree programme in Vocational Education (M.Ed.), students can specialise the skills acquired in the Bachelor's programme – taking into account the chosen subject area "Metal Technology" or "Electrical Engineering". A cross-track degree course in engineering is also possible. In addition to the teaching subjects, the educational and social science core study is a required part of the teaching qualification at the University of Kassel. The four-semester degree course is not subject to admission restrictions. Admission requirements are a Bachelor in Vocational Education, at least 48 weeks of practical experience in the commercial and technical field and at least five weeks of school internships. Alternatively, admission can also be granted with a technically equivalent academic degree. Graduates can start in the postgraduate traineeship at vocational schools, teach in vocational education institutions in the extracurricular area or take over in the company leading training activities or activities in personnel and organizational development. Industrial-technical teachers at vocational schools cooperate closely with, among others, those responsible for training in industrial and craft enterprises. One of the central tasks of vocational educators is to advise and promote heterogeneous groups of students. For the development and implementation of innovations in school operations, they have the necessary vocational education, didactic, organisational and social skills for action.
