Annotation

One of the future challenges faced by oral and facial surgery is aesthetic surgery, because more and more people are undergoing aesthetic surgery. Particularly specialists for oral and facial surgery are predestined to carry out aesthetic facial surgeries. They are highly qualified professions with a varied knowledge of anatomy and the functions of the entire facial area. However, the same qualifications should apply to aesthetic surgery as they do for medically necessary treatments. Since autumn 2010, the Europäische Fortbildungsakademie für Medizin und Zahnmedizin (EFMZ) at the Witten/Herdecke University (UWH) has provided continued education in the Aesthetic Facial Surgery (MSc) Master's degree course for the quality assurance of professional standards. This degree course evolved out of the successful series of certified continuing education courses of the DGMKG.
