Area of study

Renewable Energies

Annotation

Based on a systematic overview of the entire field of sustainable energy systems/regenerative energies, the aim of the course is to acquire in-depth specialist knowledge in individually selected areas of this field, to familiarise students with the theoretical and application-related aspects of the course and to enable students to work scientifically. This degree course enables students to acquire broad, integrative and interdisciplinary knowledge in the field of sustainable energy engineering, namely in the fields of Process Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Natural Sciences and Environmental Sciences. The following specialisation options are available: - "Electrochemical energy conversion and storage" deals above all with the use of chemical energy. Subjects of this specialisation are, for example, batteries, fuel cells and the field of electromobility. - "Semiconductor-based energy conversion" is focused on techniques such as solar cells or thermoelectrics. - In the area of "Fluid-based Energy Conversion", the focus is on energy sources such as hydropower or wind power. - "Thermal energy conversion and storage" deals, among other things, with the use of plant materials as renewable raw materials, e.g. in the form of biofuel.
