Target group

Target group The Master's degree programme in Empirical Cultural Studies (EKW) with its integrated profile lines Museum & Collections, Diversity, Cultural Analysis of Everyday Life offers a research and practice-oriented programme for students who wish to deepen their understanding of German and European everyday culture. Students acquire the ability to analyse everyday regional, ethnic, religious and gender-related phenomena and conflicts in the context of social, historical and socio-political developments. At a high level, students learn to work systematically, theory-related and methodologically reflective, to research empirically and to present results in a comprehensible way. In three specialised profile lines (scope 30 ECTS), students can choose a perspective focus: \tThe Museum & Collections profile line focuses on material culture, representation and memory. \tThe profile line Diversity examines the self-image of highly pluralised European societies with regard to their cultural, ethnic, religious, gender, age-related or physical differences \tThe profile line Cultural Analysis of Everyday Life focuses on the specifics of empirical cultural studies work along everyday life as an analytical category in a local and global perspective The EKW Master's degree programme combines intensive cultural-analytical training with practical orientation. Through a three-semester study project, it lays the foundation for a wide range of professional activities.
