Annotation

At the Leuphana Universität Lüneburg, the Bachelor's degree course is comprised of a major and a minor subject as well as inter-disciplinary content (Leuphana Semester and Complementary Studies). SPECIAL FEATURE A special feature of the English-language Cultural Studies programme is its concentration on three central pillars: the arts ("The Arts"), the organisations and institutions of the cultural sector ("Organisation") and the theoretical discourses that shape this field ("Society"). The Arts: This area enables an intensive examination of the arts themselves. Students learn not only how art and culture are created, but also their importance in global discourse. Organisation: The focus here is on cultural organisation and society, whereby students learn to understand the organisational framework conditions of cultural production. They gain knowledge about the operation of cultural institutions and their integration into social structures, which prepares them specifically for a career in cultural organisation. Society: Studying in Lüneburg highlights the role of art and culture in socio-political debates and social change. Through the interdisciplinary linking of cultural theory, philosophy and sociology, students are prepared for understanding and actively contributing to social change.
