Admission requirements
Admission requirements to the bi-national Bachelor's/licence course of European Studies are the provision of a higher education entrance qualification certificate (general or relevant subject-restricted higher education entrance) or a certificate recognised as equivalent by legislation or the responsible state authority, or the requirements for applicants considered to be qualified by professional training. (2) As a further admission requirement applicants at both universities must have a good to very good command of the respective partner's language (level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages [CEFR]), a sound command of English is also desirable (level B1 of the CEFR). (3) Proof of French language skills at the University of Paderborn is supplied by passing an aptitude test. This consists of a 90-minute written examination (with dictation, a translation section French-German and questions to answer) and an approx. 15-minute interview in French. The basis of the written examination is a 7 French text with a current regional and cultural reference (focus on France/Germany). One section of the text is used for dictation, the rest is to be translated from French into German\; the subsequent questions refer to the complete text and are to be answered in French. In total, 100 points can be scored in the test (dictation: 20 points\; translation: 30 points\; answers to questions: 30 points\; interview: 20 points). The French language skills demanded in the aptitude test correspond to those that can be gained by studying French during the final two years of upper school (level B2 of CEFR). The test is conducted and assessed by full-time Romance Studies teachers.
