The Chair of Internet Business (Professor Jan Krämer) invites applications for the position of

Doctoral Researcher
(doctoral candidate)

to start at the earliest convenience.

This is a fully-funded full-time position, based on a fixed-term contract valid for a period of three years, with the option of renewal. Remuneration is in accordance with pay grade E13 of the German public-sector collective agreement, TV-L; the salary step depends on your qualifications and experience. The current minimum annual salary is €54,699 in the first year, rising to €58,684 in the second and third year.

What we seek

  • You are a highly motivated graduate with an excellent master`s degree in economics, information systems, industrial engineering, management or a related field of study. Preliminary part-time employment up to 0.5 full-time equivalent in line with pay grade E12 TV-L may be arranged temporarily for candidates who have not yet completed their master’s thesis. Please contact us for details.
  • Very good analytical skills and a keen interest in the economics of the digital economy, digital markets, digital platforms, metaverse or related topics in the chair's field of research. The doctoral thesis topic can be chosen based on your personal interests.
  • Ability to work in an international team, open-mindedness, and the motivation to work on a research project independently and diligently.
  • Excellent spoken and written English language skills. Knowledge of German is not a requirement. The working language at the chair is English.

  • Participation in the teaching activities of the chair in the form of lectures and the supervision of students’ seminar papers and dissertations/theses.
  • Very good infrastructure, including the department's own experimental laboratory and one of the most beautiful university locations in Germany.
