The Center for Advanced Systems Understanding (CASUS) is a German-Polish research center for data-intensive digital systems research. 

The Department of Theoretical Chemistry is looking for a PhD Student (f/m/d) in theoretical chemistry of 2D materials and their heterostructures

Your tasks 

  • Simulations of optoelectronic properties of 2D heterostructures of transition-metal dichalcogenides 
  • Preparation of training sets for machine learning of interatomic potentials 
  • Analysis or results and dissemination as publications and on conferences/workshops/schools 
  • Help in teaching duties (10 % of work)

Your profile 

  • Completed university studies (Master/Diploma) in the field of Chemistry, Physics or Materials science or related field 
  • Knowledge of quantum-mechanical simulations using standard DFT-based codes 
  • Skills in 2D materials field 
  • Programming using Python or alike desirable 
  • Team player, adaptation in international community 
  • Very good English (speaking, listening, and writting)
