• Standard application procedure

  Application requirements
  Generally accommodation is only rented to students whose place of study falls under the remit of the Studentenwerk.
  Such establishments are currently:
  - Ruhr-Universität Bochum
  - Hochschule Bochum
  - Evangelische Fachhochschule Rheinland-Westfalen-Lippe
  - Hochschule für Gesundheit
  - Folkwang Universität der Künste, Standort Bochum
  - Westfälische Hochschule Gelsenkirchen - Bocholt - Recklinghausen
  If demand permits, applications from students from other universities can be considered.

  Application deadline
  There are no fixed application deadlines. Applications are possible throughout the year and can also be submitted even if you are not yet enrolled at the universities in the AKAFÖ's area of responsibility.
  However, an application is possible a maximum of six months before the desired move-in date.

• Exchange students (Erasmus students or students from partner universities)

  The International Office offers a special service for Erasmus students and students from partner universities. You can book accommodation through the International Office for the duration of your exchange (one to two semesters). Rooms are provided in the halls of residence run by AkaFö (Akademisches Förderungswerk) which are located close to the campus.
  
  Please note: Unfortunately, there are more applicants than rooms. Therefore, Ruhr-Universität Bochum cannot guarantee every exchange student a room. You should be flexible and send your accommodation request as early as possible.
  
  How to make a reservation:
  Nominated exchange students will receive the Accommodation Request by e-mail. If you would like to book a room through the International Office, please complete and return the form. After the application deadline you will receive a detailed offer about a possible room. If you have accepted this offer, the International Office will send you a reservation confirmation by e-mail. After receiving the reservation confirmation, you must transfer a deposit of two months' rent within the specified period.
  
  Please note: rooms can only be booked for a six or twelve months.
  - From September to February or August (from winter semester, 6 or 12 months)
  - From March to August or February (from summer semester, 6 or 12 months)
