• Standard application procedure

  Application requirements
  Admission is granted to German and international students who are enrolled at one of the universities in Hamburg, as well as students attending the Hamburg Conservatorium in Blankenese and a preparatory course at the Studienkolleg (individuals, couples and families).

  Application deadline
  Applications can be sent in at the earliest, three months before your chosen date for moving in.

  Please note: The online application for admission does not apply to exchange/programme students. Please contact either your coordinator at your home university or in the host country, or the international office of the higher education institution in Hamburg responsible for you. • Erasmus or central exchange students

  It is strongly recommended to apply for one of the rooms set aside for Erasmus and central exchange students in the student dormitories as it is very difficult to find affordable housing in Hamburg on your own. Please contact your programme coordinator in Hamburg and request a housing application form.
  
  Please note that as an exchange student, you may not apply directly to Studierendenwerk Hamburg for a dorm room. Please also note that the deadline for Erasmus and central exchange student housing offers is approximately three to four months before the semester starts.

• Additional information

  Handicapped-friendly rooms available
  Short-term rental rooms with a higher price and additional services are offered to students needing a room for less than six months. These are allocated by the Zentrale Kurzzeitvermietung.
  
  You can apply for up to three buildings or for all buildings together. If you apply for all buildings, you will increase your chances of quickly receiving accommodation.
