Special features regarding the library

Locations: Central library system with 3 locations: Bielefeld campus university library with learning centre; University library Lampingstraße; Minden campus university library; Stock: Book stock: about 170,000; Approx. 400 printed journals; More than 18,000 e-journals; Approx. 85,000 e-books; Service: Expenditure on media in 2022: around EUR 624,946. The university library on the Minden campus in the immediate vicinity of the department, open around 45 hours/week. Around 70 workspaces, some with PC; Target-group-oriented training programme from introductory courses for first-semester students to workshops on the use of specialist information sources as well as further support programmes and advice on academic (digital) work and learning, integrated into the courses as necessary; ILIAS learning management system and other services for digital teaching and learning.

Foreign language center and courses

There is no foreign language centre. The foreign language training takes place as part of the degree courses and is integrated into the curricula. Students at HSBI have guest access to courses at the foreign language centre of the University of Bielefeld.

Special features regarding university sports

The university offers its own sports programme. Some courses are free of charge, some subject to fees. The running group is made up of students, employees, teaching staff and alumni from the various departments and institutions of Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences and Arts. In the summer semester, training will be held on Tuesdays from 5pm to 6:15pm, under sports science guidance, at Stadion Rußheide, Mühlenstraße 121 in Bielefeld. In winter, the group moves to different sports halls within Bielefeld.
