Special features regarding university sports

The university offers its own sports programme. Participation possible at: Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, and the Hessian University of Applied Sciences for Public Management and Security (Hessische Hochschule für Öffentliches Management und Sicherheit ). Some courses are free of charge, some subject to fees. We have had 2 of our own sports facilities since 2021: A newly built fitness course with 10 stations on the KSR campus and a covered bouldering wall on the Rüsselsheim campus. Since summer semester 2023, the number of participants has risen enormously, back to pre-pandemic levels. There are plans to build a fitness area with modern equipment in cooperation with the city of Wiesbaden on the grounds of the outdoor and indoor swimming pool in the immediate vicinity of the university. In 2023, University Sports organised two German University Championships: Athletics and Jiu-Jitsu.
