Special features regarding university sports

The university offers its own sports programme. Some courses are free of charge, some subject to fees. In Hamburg the university sports programme is a joint service of all the state and state-recognised higher education institutions. The central tasks of the university sports centre are the promotion of sport, exercise and health, programmes in grass-roots and competitive sports, social integration in life and work at the universities irrespective of background, culture, ethnicity or gender, promotion of communication between the members of the university across departments and institutions.
