Special features regarding the library

Locations: The university library is divided into three locations according to the faculties: The humanities holdings are mainly located on the campus at the Neues Palais.; Stock: Potsdam University Library ensures the supply of information. It also offers access to over 100,000 e-journals, over 1 million e-books and around 1.3 million printed volumes (around 50% freely accessible on site).; Services: The departmental libraries are important learning and working spaces for the students. Group work rooms are available at all three locations. You can borrow media and use reading room lockers with your student ID card. The university library also supports teaching by offering information literacy programmes and research through bibliometrics, retro-digitisation and publication support as well as extensive activities in the areas of open access and research data management.

Foreign language center and courses

There is a foreign language centre. Languages offered: English, French, German as a Foreign Language, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Polish, Russian, Chinese, Latin, Ancient Greek. The EDUC universities (please refer to https://www.uni-potsdam.de/de/educ/mitmachen/sprachkurse) offer language courses in the national languages of the partner countries at regular intervals for each language level.

Special features regarding university sports

The university offers its own sports programme. Students of the UP can participate in university sports in Brandenburg at a student price at all other university locations; Participation in other universities outside Brandenburg is generally also possible, but at less favourable conditions if necessary. Some courses are free of charge, some subject to fees. Potsdam University Sports offers an exceptionally wide range of recreational sports for students and employees of the Potsdam universities: University of Potsdam, Film University Babelsberg, University of Applied Sciences Potsdam. In addition to the course programme, weekend workshops, events, competitive sports, exercise courses, team events, family-friendly programmes as well as integration and inclusion sports offer a perfect balance to everyday study or work. Fitness club, basic and advanced training, active break, active study break, massage and key skills round off the programme.
