Locations: In addition to the university library, there are over 60 specialist libraries: Institute, seminar, departmental and faculty libraries as well as clinic libraries.; Stock: Total stock of printed media: 3,406,314; Available databases and individual electronic documents: 1,697,674; Stock of printed media in specialist libraries on campus: 1,868,286; Services: We love our library! As one of the largest academic libraries in Germany, it offers students great workspaces – in the reading rooms you can work in silence, and in the parlatorium you can work with others and talk aloud. The library also includes: a café, a modern media centre, a parent-child room, workspaces for people with visual impairments, and wheelchair-accessible PC workstations. A wide range of training courses helps students to make the most of what the university library has to offer.

Foreign language center and courses

There is a foreign language centre. Languages offered: English, French, German as a Foreign Language, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Swedish, Polish, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Latin, Arabic, Turkish, Finnish; Korean; Ancient Greek; Modern Greek; Dutch; Norwegian; Persian (Farsi); Quechua; Swahili; Hebrew (in Oriental Studies Department); Slavic languages (at the Slavic Studies Department). The University of Freiburg is a member of the university alliance "EPICUR – European Partnership for an Innovative Campus Unifying Regions"; Students of all EPICUR universities of the nine partner institutions can register for EPICUR courses; Language courses are also offered.

Special features regarding university sports

The university offers its own sports programme. Possible to participate in sports excursions organised by university sports centres in Baden-Württemberg. Participation is subject to fees. Over 120 different types/variants of sports,; including a variety of outdoor sports courses in Germany and abroad; as well as courses related to student and occupational health management
