Special features regarding the library
Locations: HPI students use the site library on the HPI campus of the Universität Potsdam. The university library offers a total of about 1,000 workspaces in the three area libraries.; Stock: media: Total stock of approx. 1.3 million volumes; 106,000electronic journals; 600 databases; 1 million e-books; Service: Technology: self-service terminals, payment terminals, scanning, copying, printing equipment, WiFi, validation terminals; 383 reading spaces (of which 18 PC workstations), 10 carrels, group work room, reading space for visually impaired students; Services: support with academic publishing, Open Access; Training, self-learning and advisory services available. The HPI financially supports purchases of computer science trade journals.

Foreign language center and courses
There is a foreign language centre. Languages offered: English, French, German as a Foreign Language, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Polish, Russian, Chinese, Latin, Ancient Greek. HPI students can use the Foreign Language Centre (Zessko) of the University of Potsdam.

Special features regarding university sports
The university offers its own sports programme. It is possible to participate in the sports programme of the University of Potsdam. Some courses are free of charge, some subject to fees. The HPI sports club offers an extensive, free sports programme which includes the institute's own sports pitches/courts: basketball, beach volleyball, street soccer, running groups, dancing, yoga, bouldering, table tennis. Other HPI student clubs organise sports activities such as wake boarding, go carting and tournaments or excursions to an indoor ski centre. HPI students regularly participate in sports university competitions.
