Special features regarding the library

Locations: Duisburg-Essen University Library with 6 specialised libraries; Stock: Books, journals and newspapers by bookbinding unit: 2,296,272; Digital stock: 601,220; Electronic journals and newspapers: 37,407; Services: The library (UB) provides access to literature, information and data for about 3,000 research assistants and about 40,000 students, but is also available to all citizens of the region. The University Library offers space for communication and promotes the transfer of knowledge into society. The library supports an integrated research process, from searching for information to media procurement and management. This includes the active promotion of open access publishing and the associated visualization of the research output of the UDE.

Special features regarding university sports

The university offers its own sports programme. Participation in sports programmes of other universities is possible for our students. Some courses are free of charge, some subject to fees. The programme is open to: Students of University Ruhr West in cooperation, and students of all other universities. The sports programmes are open to students over the age of 16, university staff and guests. 2009 university sports club; fitness studios on the Duisburg and Essen campuses; trend sports such as American football, spinning, Zumba; Sports trips; cycling programme and more.
