Special features regarding the library

Locations: The Saxony-Anhalt University and State Library is the largest general academic library in the state and is spread among 12 branch libraries in addition to the central library.; Stock: Approx. 7 million stock items (printed & digital), including journals, an extensive collection of textbooks, rare prints, manuscripts, literary remains & maps/graphic collections from the 16th-18th century.; Services: The individual locations offer long opening hours, comfortable workspaces, publication support, research-related services, training/advice on the handling of research data and open access.

There is a foreign language centre. Languages offered: English, French, German as a Foreign Language, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Latin, Dutch.

Special features regarding university sports

The university offers its own sports programme. Students attending the institution can participate in the sports programme of the universities of the state of Saxony/Anhalt and Leipzig. Participation is subject to fees. The programme is open to: Students and staff of MLU and Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle. The supervised fitness area, StudiFit's, is open all year round - also on Sundays and public holidays. Diving training is possible in the university sports centre, also including diving excursions. The MLU has been offering the "Break Express", as an active break for employees, since 2016. The university sports centre actively promotes the student health management project. The university sports centre organises or plans "moving" events within its capabilities.
