Special features regarding the library

Locations: The library offers access to a high-quality and up-to-date stock of textbooks, journals and databases, which is based on the needs of the students.; Stock: A large portion of the literature as well as all journals and databases are offered in an electronic format and are available irrespective of time and location.; Services: Literature is borrowed and returned by means of electronic self-service terminals. An inter-library lending service complements the library's own stock. An overhead book scanner is available for quick scanning and editing. Information events are offered according to individual requirements. Workspaces are available in the library and in a separate reading room, which is open 24/7 for university members. All workspaces are equipped with electricity/mains connection. In addition, there are 15 group work rooms as well as other workspaces in the library building.

There is no foreign language centre. Languages offered: German as a Foreign Language, Students may participate in the programme: Centre for Foreign Language Training (ZFA) of the Ruhr University Bochum

Special features regarding university sports

The university offers its own sports programme. Participation in the university sports programme of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum is also possible free of charge. Participation is free of charge. The sports programme at Witten/Herdecke University is open to everyone, dynamically structured and individually adapted to students' current sports preferences. This also includes competition preparation, work-oriented and preventive exercises, and the integration of course participants into the organisation and conception. Focus on competitive sports and participation in national and international competitions is particularly fostered and supported. In addition, there are partnerships with associations in Witten to expand contact between citizens and students.
