The university offers its own sports programme. Dortmund students may participate in the university sports programme of other selected universities. Participation is subject to fees. About 80 types of sports and fitness studio directly on campus. Most of the sports programme can be used an no additional cost after obtaining the sports card (from EUR 20/semester); Each year, several sports events such as the campus run with over 1,600 runners or the football campus league. Since 2018, there has been a completely redeveloped outdoor area with artificial grass, beach volleyball and soccer boxes. The new outdoor fitness station "TUrnpunkt" is in the middle of the campus and is freely accessible.
