Foreign language center and courses

There is a foreign language centre. English, French, German as a Foreign Language, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Swedish, Polish, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, Turkish, Dutch, Korean; RUB students can usually take language courses offered by other universities, which are aimed at students from all faculties (language centres), and receive credits for them.

Special features regarding university sports

The university offers its own sports programme. Students attending the institution can participate in the sports programme of the TU Dortmund, University of Duisburg-Essen (with the status of being a student at another higher education institution.) Participation is subject to fees. University-owned 1,100 square meter gym within walking distance of the main station; In the winter semester 2023/24, there are around 500 courses per week in pver 100 sports; large diving sports department; Cooperation with other sports operators to offer golf, inline skating, tennis (indoor), SUP; University’s own artificial grass pitch. Live streaming services and on-demand formats. The programme is open to: Hochschule für Gesundheit (hsg), Ev. FH Bochum, TH Bochum, Bochum University of Applied Sciences, EBZ Business School.
