Further information provided by the department

Special features regarding teaching

Small seminar groups allow hands-on practice, in which theoretical principles and models can be quickly tried out and taught in practice. The lectures as well as the practicals and exercises are mainly carried out by the respective professor. For some students, a special studies plan with extended periods can be created if necessary, e.g. for competitive athletes to optimise the combination of studies and sport.

Special features regarding the international orientation

The degree course has been well-received by the international students. 30 % of foreign students pursue this degree course. The modules are mainly taught in German and a German test is therefore required for admission. Prerequisite for access to the Master's degree course are 210 credit points (CP). Students with a Bachelor's degree with 180 credit points can make up the missing 30 CPs.

Special features regarding the equipment

In addition to a modern clean room and a complete PCB production line, students have access to modern laboratories equipped to meet industrial standards, e.g. Simatic in the field of Control Engineering. Findings in protection and control technology are applied in the university's own high voltage facility. A well-equipped machine laboratory is completed by a conveyor belt system. The newly equipped Laboratory for Electromagnetic Compatibility provides insight into current research and development.

Special features regarding research and development

research partnerships with local and national companies exist in the following key areas: reliability of electrical components and systems, characterisation and reliability or organic thin-film transistors (TFT) and electromagnetic compatibility of high-performance systems, e.g. electric welding machines.

Other special features

The degree programme in electrical engineering at Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU) has the application-oriented profile of a university of applied sciences. This course can also be taken integrated into vocational training or integrated into practice with partners from industry.
