Practice-relevant teaching components. Possible collaboration in practice-oriented research projects. In small project groups, engineering tasks and project management skills are practised in a goal-oriented way. During the project work, a development process is tested for the practical phase of the occupational practice. Supplementary exercises are offered as support for individual students in the case of large differences in academic performance.

Special features regarding the international orientation

Special features regarding the equipment

The laboratory equipment of the individual disciplines is continuously modernised to a high level + various special laboratories: e.g. automation systems, mixed reality, AV technology, studio/broadcast vehicles/good infrastructure). Against the backdrop of specific requirements, the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science operates its own independent computer centre (with specialised supervision provided by departmental IT specialists:including the department’s own computer pools). An access control system means that PC pools and other rooms can be used outside regular opening hours.

Special features regarding research and development

The Electrical Engineering and Computer Science department comprises various research institutes. It is possible to participate in further research activities of the FB Technik. Current key areas of research include: Energy efficiency in production, knowledge transfer, logistics, energy and environmental engineering, industrial informatics, university didactics, e-learning. Current topics include the intelligent validation of driver assistance systems through information enhancement, sensor technology and applications, cyber physical systems and IT security.

Support for founders

General information and funding opportunities and special offers provided by the knowledge and research transfer centre + in-house centre for continuing education. Opportunity to participate in the seminar on business start-ups with external lecturers. Links exist on this topic with the city of Emden (Zukunft Emden/start-up centre), the Ems-Achse and associations (VDE/VDI).
