The relatively small number of students and excellent student-teacher ratio create a personal atmosphere and thus ideal learning conditions. Relation to practice through numerous intensive contacts between the faculty and industry; Many application-oriented research projects; Specialisation in Business Analytics and Data Science, lectures in English; Additional qualifications in the field of Actuarial Studies and Auditing can be acquired in the course; teaching observation visits in lectures by specialists in Didactics; Didactic tutor training.

Special features regarding research activities

In addition to the subject-specific research in the respective institutes, the inter-disciplinary research plays an important role. Thus, the Institute of Finance and the Institute of Insurance for example, together with colleagues from mathematics, are developing models to calculate the contagion effects on the financial markets. Research cooperation with partners from business and the public sector is also not neglected, as the project "Dietenheim attracts" funded by the state of Baden-Württemberg and the city of Dietenheim shows.

Support for founders

We currently offer a number of contents on innovation techniques that can be drawn upon for finding ideas for new products and services, as well as methods for procedural implementation/development of business models. Module "Entrepreneurships" (content: What is Entrepreneurship? What should be considered and what makes a successful business start-up? What are the difficulties and legal aspects?) and module "Instruments of Corporate Management"; Excursions to pitches, founders' competitions and conferences; Speeches by business founders.

Other special features

The location of the faculty in the "Science Park" means that there is a geographical proximity to research institutions in industry. Good network of the faculty with regional and national companies. The WiWi Alumniclub Ulm e.V. (Economics Alumni Club) offers a wide range of activities. It serves as an information and communication platform for graduates and students of the Economics degree course. The student-run Börsenforum Ulm (e.V.) (stock market forum) organises lecture series on the topic of the stock market, excursions to stock exchanges; priamos consulting group e.V. is a student management consultancy.
