Special features regarding teaching

The entire spectrum of civil engineering is offered and taught in the Bachelor's degree course at the OTH Regensburg. Graduates have comprehensive knowledge in the professional field of structural engineers. In all practical and application-related orientation, the necessary theoretical principles are taught, enabling graduates to follow a critically considered process for planning and construction tasks. This prevents overly restrictive specialisation within the subject. In the Master's degree course, additional knowledge and skills are taught that qualify students particularly for management roles.

Special features regarding the international orientation

Specialists with international experience bring knowledge and experience to teaching. Moreover, close relationships are maintained to universities and academic institutions in Europe and Latin America including expert exchange for special courses. High value of cross-cultural aspects; In addition to the high-quality, interdisciplinary "International Skills" study offer, other courses are also offered with country-specific, cross-cultural preparatory and follow-up phases for students and assistant professors; Role plays, Individual meetings, Skype coaching, informal gatherings

Special features regarding the equipment

The department has very well-equipped laboratories for Asphalt Technology, Building Physics, Construction Materials, Geo-engineering, Community Water Management, Hydraulic Engineering and Surveying. The relocation of the faculty to a new university building considerably improved the department's rooms and upgraded its technical equipment. A newly created Laboratory for Structural Engineering makes it possible with its equipment, unique in Germany, to conduct large-scale static and dynamic structural tests and is accessible to students in teaching.

Special features regarding research and development

Our R&D projects on Energy + Infrastructure are highly interdisciplinary. Our work on the topic of "underground cabling for high-voltage power lines" spans subjects in the faculty and spans faculties and universities in the OTH network. This is supported in the EnResBau OTH research cluster which is located in the faculty. In addition to traditional third-party funding, we also receive funding from small and medium-sized enterprises, consulting companies and local energy suppliers for the development of construction methods, building materials, modelling processes, etc.

Support for founders

This support is provided as part of the university's start-up programme.

Other special features

Both the Bachelor's and the Master's courses are offered in the summer and winter semesters. All courses in the Bachelor's degree course in Civil Engineering are offered every semester.
