Special features regarding research and development

More than 70 research projects at present; More than 70 third-party-funded employees in research; 10 internal interdisciplinary institutes in the faculty; Annual third-party funding more than 2 million euros; Collaboration in the C³ Carbon Concrete Composite project (cooperative research project with the TU Dresden, etc.); Successful applications for FHprofUnt tenders and tenders of the DFG; Comprehensive research currently in Foundation Engineering/Geo-engineering, Concrete Construction, Energy-Efficient Building and Building Physics with Product Developments; Young research group on resource and substance conservation

Support for founders

Company start-ups are supported centrally by the university.

Other special features

The HTWK Leipzig does not consider itself a typical University of Applied Sciences. This is the result of its past as a university institution. In addition to teaching, the focus of the faculty is research and internationalisation. The technical equipment available in teaching and research is "very good" for a University of Applied Sciences (initial equipment approx. EUR 900,000). The university's focus is Engineering. In addition, the faculty scores points with the advantages of its location in Leipzig and a 250-year tradition.
