Special features regarding teaching
Both degree courses focus on research: In the MA through active participation in research projects in the context of an internal or external research internship (including research report and presentation); In the BA in the context of educational research projects. Both degree courses focus on cross-disciplinary educational issues against the background of a broad social science context.
Special features regarding research activities
There are currently two key research areas: (1) Qualitative and quantitative school and teaching research (e.g.: Multi-professional cooperation, IGLU 2016, specialising at grammar schools, Schlözer teacher training programme, accompanying project school development in Vorarlberg); (2) Research on the history and present of educational science (e.g.: Mollenhauer edition, Development of basic educational knowledge).
Other special features
The BA in social science combines educational science with one other social science subject. This combination and the extensive social science core curriculum prepares students for a wide range of jobs beyond the specific educational fields. MA graduates work in science-related management or administrative positions (e.g.: further education department; & international development cooperation) or in educational research.
