Research in the Department of Physiotherapy focuses on pain modulation, the role of physiotherapy in the management of migraines and AI-assisted movement analysis. Two new laboratories have been set up in the building of the Fraunhofer Institute for the focus on AI-assisted movement analysis. There is also a special laboratory and equipment for quantitative sensory testing for pain research. The department is a member of the Centre for Brain, Behaviour and Metabolism and thus has access to EEG and fMRI as methods for examining brain activity.
