Special features regarding research activities

The participating departments Chair of Technology and Society (SoTec) Prof. Dr. Stefan Böschen and the Chair of Theory of Science and Technology (TST) Prof. Dr. Gabriele Gramelsberger are actively involved in numerous publicly funded research projects and research colleges. This applies in particular to the field of real-world laboratory research, Computational Science Studies, Science and Technology Studies (STS), Cultures of Research (Käte-Hamburger-Kolleg).

Other special features

Innovations and their side effects have a lasting impact on our society (mobility/energy transition, climate change, aging societies, networked production, AI). Appropriate decisions require dealing with complex knowledge and also a lack of knowledge. In order to be able to make such a change ecologically and socially acceptable and politically/economically reasonable and responsible, decision-makers need skills that are acquired within the framework of the degree course by linking sociological, philosophical and technological perspectives.
