Special features regarding research activities

The research focus is on analysing the conditions, structures and dynamics of governance, drawing on interdisciplinary, intersectoral and international perspectives. Competence centres focus on the most important governance challenges in the areas of European affairs, international security, fundamental rights, sustainability, digital governance, and data science. In addition, the Hertie School is involved in collaborative research projects within the framework of research networks.

Other special features

The Hertie School has a Sustainability Committee, which is composed of representatives of the groups at the university, is headed by two co-directors and two representatives, and decides on measures for improving the sustainability of the university's operations. The Office for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion manages the diversity strategy across universities based on recommendations from two task forces and a Gender Equality Plan. The Hertie School is certified as a family-friendly university and was a finalist in the Impact of Diversity Award.
