The teaching is based on the principles of research-based learning and teaching as well as a competence-oriented communication and examination of learning content.

Special features regarding teaching in the master's programmes

The teaching is based on the principles of research-based learning and teaching as well as a competence-oriented communication and examination of learning content. Courses only take place in seminars with a small number of students. Students are intensively supervised in the development of the research project. Regular advisory appointments are built into the course.

Special features regarding research activities

The SOCIUM Research Centre for Inequality and Social Policy focuses on inequality, social policy and social structures. Collaborative Research Centre 1342 investigates the worldwide distribution of social policy. The Research Centre for Social Cohesion (FGZ) focuses on social, cultural and political inequalities as risks to social cohesion. The GlobaLab research initiative integrates these approaches and promotes transnational cooperation to investigate global solidarity in a fragmented world.
