Special features regarding the international orientation

Internationalised, English-language Master´s degree programme in Biochemistry.

Special features regarding the equipment

A large number of subject-specific databases and specialist literature are available through the Chemistry sub-library. The department has a large number of modern technical equipment, e.g. for X-ray structural or elemental analysis, NMR spectroscopy or mass spectrometry, as well as the associated service departments.

Special features regarding research activities

Students have the opportunity to obtain a doctorate at the Graduate School of Science and Technology. Our Emil Fischer Fellowship Programme gives outstanding young scientists the opportunity to supervise doctorates at an early stage, to set up their own research group and to teach. Last but not least, we also see the promotion of young talent as promoting equal opportunities. All young researchers benefit from family-friendly working conditions.

Other special features

The Institute for Sustainable Chemistry & Catalysis with Boron (ICB) is a newly founded research institute based in the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy at the Julius Maximilian University of Würzburg. The ICB was opened on 31 March 2022. The Institute will host an interdisciplinary group of researchers working on chemistry and catalysis using boron and the development of new boron-containing molecules, materials, catalysts and processes with practical applications.
