Special features regarding teaching in the bachelor's degree programme

Well-founded sociological theory, research-related training in quantitative and qualitative methods. Analysis of Structures, Mechanisms and Dynamics of Social Inequality. Students benefit from the variety of sociological perspectives and approaches represented at the Institute.

Special features regarding teaching in the master's programmes

The Master's degree programme has a strong research component. The first-class sociological research represented at the institute is encompassed in a clearly structured and integrative study programme that allows for different focus areas. These are based on the internationally recognized research expertise of the numerous teaching areas at the institute and offer students not only theoretical insights, but also very concrete opportunities for practical cooperation in research projects.

Integration of research projects in teaching. Project staff regularly offer courses on the specific research projects in the master's and bachelor's programmes. Work as a student assistant in numerous research projects. In addition, there are opportunities for collaboration in the numerous non-university research institutions in Munich (e.g. German Youth Institute, Max-Plank Institute).
