Further information provided by the department

Special features regarding teaching in the bachelor's degree programme

The field of nursing in department 1 involves: Educational Sciences with a focus on vocational schools. Most other subjects are integrated into the teacher training for other types of schools (primary school, secondary school, grammar school, etc.). However, it is highly interdisciplinary in that it is closely linked to the compulsory courses in educational sciences and other general subjects such as German, mathematics, English or physical education, etc.

Special features regarding the international orientation

There are ongoing study exchange programmes as part of the Erasmus programme at the University of Koblenz.

Special features regarding the equipment

The technical equipment of the Department and the Institute of Nursing Sciences (IPW) meet all the requirements of modern and future-oriented teacher training. This includes all hardware and software tools and our own premises for the planning and design of digital or blended forms of teaching. Recently, the IPW also has equipment for designing and practising VR reality scenarios with regard to nursing care. This includes VR glasses and the appropriate software tools.

Special features regarding research activities

Because the Institute for Nursing Sciences at the University of Koblenz has only existed and been established for one year, there are no ongoing research projects. The current research focuses on health promotion, prevention, resilience and new technologies in nursing. For this purpose, targeted contacts are currently being established with the sports and cultural sciences as well as with the Institute for Sports Science. There are non-university contacts to research institutions such as the German Institute for Applied Care Research in Cologne.

Other special features

The University of Koblenz was re-established on 01.01.2023 and has now emerged from the University of Koblenz-Landau as an independent university. For the purpose of further development and profiling, it addresses all current and future challenges that arise out of this new situation. This resulted in development plan uk2030, which describes many of the processes that have already started. Central topics include training, digitalisation and heterogeneity, digital change, health and ecology, as well as culture, participation and democracy.
