Special features regarding teaching in the bachelor's degree programme

In the Mannheim Sociology department, students are trained by internationally leading academics and benefit from a very good student-teacher supervision ratio. Mannheim is characterised by the high quality of the research infrastructure and the excellent study environment. Seminars are conducted in small groups and there are accompanying tutorials to help students deepen their knowledge. Students also receive excellent training in the quantitative methods of social research and are counselled by professional student services.

Special features regarding teaching in the master's programmes

In the M.A. Sociology, students are trained exclusively in English by internationally leading academics and benefit from a very good student-teacher supervision ratio. Mannheim stands out for the high quality of its internationally focused research infrastructure and its excellent study environment. The 2-year degree programme is a research-oriented Master's programme in which students develop their methodological skills for data analysis and are systematically prepared for a doctorate. Due to their methodological knowledge, graduates are in great demand.

The University of Mannheim is technologically very well equipped. In the field of e-learning, students can access extensive online and video conferencing platforms and attend courses in digitally supported formats.
