Special features regarding teaching

Under the didactic concept of blended learning advocated by the Psychology Department, teaching combines written knowledge transfer in the form of courses and compulsory reading with instruction via online lectures, virtual teaching and learning platforms, face-to-face events and online exercises. Through Moodle, students have the opportunity to interact with each other, contact lecturers or work on exercises.

Special features regarding the international orientation

Besides the ‘classic’ semester abroad, students also have the option of a virtual stay abroad at international open universities. Students are encouraged to complete internships abroad.

Special features regarding the equipment

The faculty has several laboratory rooms with PC equipment as well as an observation laboratory. In addition, technology is available for physiological (e.g. ECG, respiration, eye tracking) and neurophysiological measurements (e.g. EEG). For literature research, students have access to the usual psychological databases (PsycInfo, Psychology and Behavioural Sciences Collection, PSYNDEX, PsycARTICLES, Social sciences citation index) along with the database offers of neighbouring disciplines.

Special features regarding research activities

In addition to the chair-specific research activities, the Faculty bundles competences and expertise in three innovative cross-chair research areas: 1) Psychology of Digital Education, 2) Psychology, Diversity and Social Cohesion and 3) Legal Psychology. The Faculty of Psychology is actively involved in the university-wide research focus D2L2 ("Digitisation, Diversity and Lifelong Learning"). In addition, there is the Psychology History Research Archive as a scientific institution at the FernUniversität.
