Special features regarding research activities

The profile of the university is characterised by strong practical relevance as well as close collaboration with industry and other partners. Since small and medium-sized companies are often not able to operate adequate research and development facilities, the university makes a vital contribution to the development of the region by acting as a "research laboratory" for these companies. In addition, research serves to continuously update the curriculum and provides interesting fields of work for students in the context of projects and final theses.

Support for founders

In the Entrepreneurship professorship, the Faculty has an institutionally anchored contact point that ensures the curricular integration of entrepreneurship-oriented modules and extracurricular awareness for supporting start-ups and innovation projects. There are courses on entrepreneurship, brainstorming workshops are offered regularly where students develop their own business ideas, and there is the Co-Working Space entrepreneurs’ lab, which students can utilise for entrepreneurial and innovation projects

Other special features

Many students receive scholarships, a large number of which are in the "cooperative model" (scholarship linked to work in a company during the non-lecture period); Individual advice for students from the Career Centre and lecturers; Coordinated course and exam timetables for all courses of study. The department encompasses both Economics and Engineering, which promotes interdisciplinary teaching and research (example: Technology - Environment - Economy).
