Special features regarding teaching

Teaching in Psychology at HMKW University of Applied Sciences is based on current trends and takes an interdisciplinary and international approach. Particular emphasis is therefore placed on digitalisation and internationalisation, across all disciplines. Value is also placed on exchange and interfaces with other faculties and students from Design, Media, Communication and Business. Teaching is characterised by a close transfer between teaching and practice. All members of the teaching staff are active in practice projects or companies at the same time, thus enabling students to gain up-to-date insights and contacts.

Special features regarding the international orientation

HMKW is a member of the ADE Network, one of the largest European university associations in the fields of business, communication, design and art. We enable students to work in collaboration with our partner universities in some of the most exciting cities in Europe. In addition, regular Erasmus and worldwide exchange programmes are possible at HMKW.

Exchange universities for stay abroads

Hogeschool van Amsterdam (Media, Information and Communication), Amsterdam, Netherlands; FHNW – FH Nordwestschweiz (HS für angewandte Psychologie), Olten, Switzerland; Universidad de Barcelona (Faculdad de Psicologia), Spain; Coventry University (Centre for Global Engagement, CGE), Coventry, United Kingdom.

Special features regarding the equipment

The Psychology Faculty has an on-campus library, access to all relevant international specialist databases, physical and online psychological test procedures, eye-tracking lab and other practical research equipment.

Special features regarding research activities

The professors of the faculty are all active in their own current research projects, also outside the university. They work together with industry partners and other universities, publish in national and international journals, specialist books or are publishers of trade journals. In this way, we provide interested students with contacts and their own research opportunities already during their studies.

Other special features

Diversity and openness are core values of the University of Applied Sciences for Media, Communication and Management (HMKW). We are internationally oriented and have students and teaching staff from many parts of the world with diverse backgrounds. HMKW has a Green Office that takes care of sustainability issues on the entire campus.
