Special features regarding teaching

The building physics degree at the HFT-Stuttgart aims to train specialised engineers for the whole field of building physics. The degree's close links with architecture and civil engineering ensures that building physics is an integral part of the planning and execution process. Building physics is not only physics applied to structures and buildings, it also covers technical acoustics, the integration of regenerative energy concepts for the protection of the environment as well as sound immission control.

Special features regarding the international orientation

Some students spend their practical semester abroad. The professors of the degree course support this through their personal contacts.

Special features regarding the equipment

The Building Physics programme at the HFT Stuttgart has its own laboratory building with various test facilities and experimental set-ups whose concepts and sound engineering designs were developed by the students themselves. The acoustic testing facilities are state-of-the-art and among the most modern in Europe. The building acoustics research field this has unique building acoustic testing and research facilities at its disposal.

Special features regarding research and development

Building physics is the most research-intensive area at HFT Stuttgart. The university receives around 80 percent of the third-party funding via our degree programme. Our students are involved in research projects, for example in the fields of acoustic and thermal building physics, energy efficiency and solar thermal energy.
