Special features regarding teaching

Small courses of up to 30 students, some lecturers come from industry, supervision of each course by a course director, 3-D printer laboratory, student workshop, simulation games, international, cross-university teaching projects in the field of design and development, Formular Student, electric screwdriver race

Special features regarding the international orientation

MB International, France and Turkey; International design, DHBW & Turkish-German University Istanbul; Summer school

Special features regarding the equipment

Technical facilities: Competence centre for additive manufacturing (plastic 3D printer and state-of-the-art 3D printing system for the production of real metal components), modern laboratories for examining important learning content in greater depth in nearly all practical module areas, e.g.: Laboratory for facility engineering for building physics, heating and air conditioning engineering; Laboratory for handling technology; Laboratory for sustainable energy forms; Laboratory for fluid dynamics and thermodynamics ; Laboratory for supply and energy management; Laboratory for control engineering (Industry 4.0, Internet of Things, digital twin)

Special features regarding research and development

Knowledge transfer is one of the central building blocks of application-related study and research. In the competence centres and research clusters, students have the opportunity to test their knowledge in practical transfer and to work independently on projects. In the Mechanical Engineering degree course, students can expand their knowledge in the following research clusters: Additives Manufacturing Laboratory (AddLab) research cluster, ELCH research cluster. For sustainable mobility, electrochemistry research cluster and cooperative projects with dual partners
