Special features regarding teaching in the bachelor's degree programme

Teaching at the DHBW, especially in the Department of Health, is characterised by excellent quality. Special features are interprofessional courses with other degree programmes or the implementation of teaching-integrated research projects. Various modules include interactive elements, simulations in the skills lab, simulation games, actors at the Centre for Management Simulation. In addition, integration of digital elements (e.g. augmented reality, HoloPatient). Expertise of external lecturers who contribute valuable knowledge from the field to the practice-oriented theoretical phases.

Special features regarding the international orientation

Every year, there is an opportunity to participate in the Winternational Week (BIP) in Finland at the Kajaani University of Applied Sciences (KAMK). The corresponding online programme is held two weeks in advance and one week as a combination of face-to-face and hybrid events.. In addition, there are short-term stays (2 weeks to 4 weeks) with practice partners in Europe, e.g. in Oulu, Finland or Treviso, Italy. In addition, international experts are regularly integrated into the lectures with lectures in online/hybrid format.

Special features regarding the equipment

Access to nursing science and medical literature databases, e.g. CINAHL; Well-equipped treatment room at the university; Cooperation in the Sim Lab with industry partners; AR headsets with holopatient as software for simulation, eye tracking and EEG measurement as well as other research equipment at the Centre for Empirical Research and the Centre for Digital Transformation. Other technical equipment includes an age simulation suit and a haptic training case.

Other special features

The Applied Health and Nursing Sciences (AGPW) degree programme combines 3 years of training with the Health and Nursing Sciences course of study, i.e. acquisition of two academic degrees, nursing exams and a Bachelor of Science. The Applied Nursing Sciences course of study combines in-person phases with independent study and offers an extension of job-specific and personal skills. The programme has a strong health science orientation with a focus on public health, global health and planetary health. Planetary health has its own teaching unit in Applied Health and Nursing Sciences.
