Special features regarding teaching

Economics in Passau is particularly strong in research. Publications in A+ and A- journals and frequency of citation are of a particularly high level. This sound research level is integrated into the Master's courses. As a result, an especially large number of Master IEB graduates move on to doctoral studies. The link to practice is influential thanks to the empirical approach of research and teaching.

Special features regarding the international orientation

Economics in Passau is international renowned and well-networked where research is concerned. This opens Master IEB students doors to work placements and semesters abroad. International professors regularly visit for seminar presentations that IEB Master’s students attend.

Special features regarding the equipment

Access to experimental research laboratory. Special software "classEx" allows for the realisation of lab-in-the-field experiments and integrates interactive modules into teaching. Contact with German economic research institutes allows access to multiple databases.

Special features regarding research activities

In the area of Economics and in connection with the IEB Master’s, various German Research Foundation (DFG) projects on international trade, development economics and experimental corruption research. Integration in Federal Ministry of Education and Research projects in the field of artificial intelligence. Integration into many current national and international research projects.

Other special features

The study programme MIEB has had a disproportionately high proportion of women for years, both among students and staff. The curriculum takes e-modules with business ethics elements into account.
