Special features regarding research activities

The faculty has an excellently equipped Centre for Additive Manufacturing, which is used for research projects. Application-oriented research in the "Lab for Customer Experience Research" (CXR lab). Data collection using classical methods of quantitative and qualitative market research and biometric approaches (eye movements, facial expressions, emotions, pulse rates, skin conductance and brain activity). Derivation of recommendations for action from the data collected. Research on renewable energies; on lightweight vehicle construction, e-mobility and recycling materials

Support for founders

The faculty plays an active role in FHpreneur, the cross-location and cross-faculty start-up initiative of the South Westphalia University of Applied Sciences, and coordinates this for the Soest campus. FHpreneur supports aspiring business founders in all questions about business start-ups, self-employment and company succession.

Other special features

The flexible compulsory elective area (at least 3 modules) in all degree courses in the faculty enables teaching staff and students to tackle current topics in their field of study. Diversity and sustainability are addressed (where appropriate) in the modules (e.g. Product Development). Diversity is promoted through interdisciplinary modules across multiple degree courses. Internationality and interculturality are promoted on campus by English-language degree courses. The guidelines of the university on equality and inclusion in daily behaviour towards students are proactive.
