The imparting of interdisciplinary skills such as work techniques, interviewing, presentation techniques and conflict management in the implementation of the concept of student-centred teaching also makes it easier for graduates to start their careers. Through regular work in the company, the students get to know the requirements of a successful professional activity during their studies. The Bachelor thesis also takes into account the requirements of the companies, since the students have to work on an operationally relevant question.

This aspect is significantly influenced by the choice of the training company by the students themselves. Completing a degree programme with vocational and academic elements with a global corporation leads to a strong international orientation of the practical phases and thus of the entire course.

In cooperation with the University of Applied Sciences in Saarbrücken and appropriately equipped educational centres in the region, lab capacities are made available at a high level, for example in the fields of electrical engineering, physics, chemistry and materials testing. The Vocational Academy Saarland (ASW) itself has a CAD lab with a 3D printer and corresponding software for design and calculation, as well as several networked PC rooms, which are used by the students.

The special feature is duality, in which competencies are acquired at the two learning locations, BA and company, which in combination lead to a high level of professional ability to act. Graduates of the degree programme have in-depth knowledge of Business Administration and Engineering. They have practical experience from project work at the ASW. Against this background, the graduates are qualified to make a valuable interdisciplinary and cross-departmental contribution in the companies at the point where economy and technology meet.
