Special features regarding teaching

Degree programme with vocational and academic elements at the ASW constitutes an academically sound and practically relevant education. The Vocational Academy Saarland (ASW) offers optimal study and working conditions, as teaching takes place in small groups and the focus is on personal contact between lecturers and students. Modern classrooms with optimal equipment and excellent IT labs that fully live up to today’s professional standards represent the high quality of education in all programmes at the ASW.

Special features regarding the international orientation

Stays abroad are possible as part of the practice projects in coordination with the training company. There is also a cooperation between ASW and Helsinki for international student exchange, which, however, is not linked to the acquisition of ECTS points, as it is only an organised project week. Due to the proximity to France and the activities of some industry partners in France, French as a foreign language can be chosen as a key skill.

Special features regarding the equipment

Over 100 student PC workstations, full-coverage WiFi, all lecture halls equipped with projectors and lecturer’s PCs; ILIAS learning platform; Own simulation game infrastructure (TOPSIM); Online Office, e-mail and cloud services via MS Office 365; Link to the SAP UCC (University Competence Centre) in Munich, access to SAP S/4 HANA, SAP FIORI including extensive training materials (client GBI); Plus the option to participate in the SAP Student Academy Programme (Learning Hub).

Other special features

Diversity and sustainability are important and current topics that also concern our industry partners. Such topics are covered in lectures, coursework, practical projects and, of course, also in student research projects and Bachelor's theses. For example, the topic of sustainability is addressed in the specialisation subject Industrial Management in the context of supply chain management case studies.
