Special features regarding teaching

Professors and lecturers from industry, practice-oriented education in modern labs, close cooperation with industry, compulsory work placement abroad, optional semester abroad, more than 50% of courses are taught in English, 2nd foreign Language Innovative forms of teaching, e.g. numerous study projects (e.g. building a motorised aircraft), business simulation game, peer instruction, flipped classroom, blended learning, media-supported and practice-oriented teaching and learning, personal support from tutors, small semester groups.

Special features regarding the international orientation

More than 50% of all courses are in English; Language for Special Purposes courses for the acquisition of technical and business jargon; Compulsory industry work placement in a non-German-speaking country; Various modules deal with international and cross-cultural issues; Almost all modules include international aspects; Voluntary academic semester and/or completion of final thesis abroad is possible; Lecturer exchange programmes enable teaching by international professors and offer professors opportunities to bring in new stimuli.

Special features regarding the equipment

Our numerous newly-equipped labs offer state-of-the-art technology and provide a variety of opportunities for practical work. The lecture theatres are equipped with modern tools for giving presentations, such as a shift display and a visualizer. These features help to create a media-supported and practice-oriented teaching and learning environment. The course also has a professional video studio and an excellently equipped workshop, in which a 2-seater motor air plane is currently being built by students as part of project-based learning.

Special features regarding research activities

In the field of Research and Development, the degree course in International Project Engineering works closely with the Reutlingen Research Institute (RRI). The professors of the degree course are active in various technical and economic research areas of the RRI. In the field of research and development, this degree course also works closely with various partners from industry. Examples of research projects: Agile project management, working in virtual project teams, design of wind turbines, plastic injection moulding technology, system installation in industry.

Support for founders

In the elective area, the event "Business Model Development & Business Foundation" can be attended. There are also Career Service seminars for all students, such as: Business plan seminar, basics of entrepreneurship, development of business models, ideas workshop, design thinking, from business idea to start-up, costumer development: development of business ideas. There are also scholarships, start-up loans from the City of Reutlingen, as well as free office space on campus. The Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK) of Reutlingen also offers individual advice.

Other special features

The course offers a wide range of interdisciplinary training in the fields of Engineering, Business Administration and Project Management. International orientation is particularly important here, as reflected in English-taught lectures, the international practical semester and modules on international and cross-cultural issues. Special emphasis is placed on soft skills that are key qualifications for future project managers. These are developed through specific seminars, project assignments and simulation games.
